Tsuru no maibashi is a 300-meter-long triple arched bridge made from hinoki wood. It links two sides of Tsugaru Fujimiko lake. In order to keep the harmony with the natural landscape around, the pillars are made from the wood of Aomori's 700 hinoki trees that were older than 150 years. You should see this elegant and beautiful bridge highlighting Japan's ancient architectural skills.

Best to see in the morning or early evening
Tsuru no maibashi is especially beautiful in the morning and in early evening. In morning, you will see the sun rising from the left side of the bridge, creating a beautiful light. In early evening, Tsugaru Fujimi lake reflects the pink color of the sky. The bridge also looks elegant, reflecting on the surface of the lake.

Brigde and Snow
The city of Tsuruta, where Tsuru no maibashi is situated, receives a lot of snow every year. Therefore, you can't walk on the bridge from December to the end of March. Yet it is great to see the bridge covered in snow from a distance. You can enjoy the beautiful winter view of the bridge in the clear winter sky.

Tsugaru Fujimiko lake
Tsuru no maibashi bridge is on a beautiful lake called Tsugaru Fujimi. This lake has a legend that has been passed on from a longtime ago. It is a sad love story between the lord of the city of Tsuruta and a girl from the town. After the lord married another woman, the girl was so sad and jumped into the lake. It is said that the grunge of the girl has became a white dragon and haunted the lord for many years.

On both sides of Tsuru no maibashi bridge, you will find two parks : Fujimiko Park and Tanchozuru Natural Park. Fujimiko Park is a popular spot for family where they can have lunch in a picnic area and children can play at a playground. They can also enjoy fishing or cruise on a boat. On the other hand, Tanchozuru Natural Park is known as a place to see Japanese cranes.
