Tsukuba Expo Center

In 1985, an International Exposition was held in Tsukuba, Ibaraki, and 20,330,000 visitors were mesmerized by cutting-edge science technology. Tsukuba Expo Center was established at the same time as the expo as the source of Japanese science technology. This is still a popular spot where many people visit from all over the world. In the center, there are sections called the Science Zone, where you can visit one of the largest planetariums and learn science through experience, and Energy Zone, where they explain about energy technology in an easy-to-understand way. At this center, people of all ages can enjoy while learning about cutting-edge science.

Planetarium

The most popular highlight of Tsukuba Expo Center is the planetarium, one of the largest in the world. Glittering stars spreading into the 25-meter diameter dome is breathtaking. The actual galaxy with 1.5 million stars that is observed during that day and at that time are displayed.

In Energy Zone, they reveal how energy is created by the power of water, thermal and nuclear as well as the mystery of the universe and planets. Of the exhibitions, the 3D theater “Sun Cruiser” is especially popular. You can experience a simulated trip in space to the sun with 3D video and spectacular sound system.
