Toyama Municipal Folk Museum is located inside the castle tower which was built to replicate the four-storied castle. Document and material of over 400 years’ of Toyama castle’s history are exhibited here. The castle tower, the beloved symbol of Toyama city, was designated as a tangible cultural property of Japan.

Chitose Gomon is a gate built in 1849 as a main gate for Chitose Goten, the residence in the premises of Toyama Castle. When Chitose Goten was taken apart in 1872, Chitose Gomon was relocated in the suburbs. It has been used as a gate for the Castle Park since 2012.

In the park, there is Sato Museum of Art and Tea Ceremony that exhibits the collections of Sukekuro Sato, the master of tea ceremony from Toyama. Two tea ceremony rooms and a tatami (mat) study hall which were originally in the Sato residence were relocated to this museum. You can see and admire a traditional Japanese space here.

There is a cruise boat terminal of Matsukawa River Cruise by the tea house “Matsukawa Chaya” in Toyama Castle Park. The cruise boat is a great option for a sightseeing in Toyama. The boat drifts along Matsu River that runs near Toyama Castle Park for about 30 minutes.

The park is also famous as a great cherry blossom viewing spot. Throngs of people visit the park in spring every year. There are about 460 cherry trees lined on both sides of the banks of Matsu River that runs near the park. This beautiful scenery is also designated as one of Japan's Top 100 Cherry Blossom Viewing Sites.
