The Omiya Bonsai Art Museum in Saitama is the world’s first public bonsai museum established in order to introduce the charm of bonsai. It is located close to Omiya Bonsai Village. The main collections are the ones formerly stored by the former Takagi Bonsai Museum of Art. On top of this, you will find excellent bonsai trees, bonki (bonsai pots), and Ukiyo-e paintings featuring bonsai. Here, you can see expressed forms of the various aspects of bonsai world. This is the one and only bonsai museum that bonsai fans cannot miss.

Learn about the Bonsai world at Collection Gallery

Collection Gallery consists of three areas: Introduction area, the Main Gallery, and the Zashiki-kazari area. There are five bonsai trees displayed at the Main Gallery, three at the Zashiki-kazari area. The bonsai trees suitable for the season are chosen each week. This weekly change of displays allows visitors to enjoy new ones every time they visit here.

“Bonsai Garden” lined with Bonsai trees at their best

Bonsai Garden usually has a display of around 40 to 50 bonsai trees including traditional pine trees and Japanese maple trees. Trees suitable for the season and at their best are chosen and displayed. The view of this garden from the arbor will make you forget about the noise and bustle of a city and indulge yourself in the world of bonsai.

Museum Shop with Original Goods

The museum shop is also worth visiting. A selection of original goods such as pictorial record books published by the museum, hand towels, bonsai postcards, and masking tapes are sold here. Bonsai-patterned hand towels are especially recommended. It is good for souvenir too.
