Tatsuno Castle

Tatsuno Castle is composed of two castles: old castle on the top of Keirosan mountain and new castle on the foot of the mountain. The old castle was built in 1499, but it was demolished after being occupied by the new lord. The new castle was built on the foot of the mountain in 1672. At the remains of the new castle, there are reproductions of the palace in the inner citadel, walls, gates and a tower. Therefore, you can see white walls of new castle and a magnificent hall even now. Furthermore, the stone walls of the old castle are the same ones that were used a long time ago. In addition, you can also see a samurai mansion and a gate which was transplanted to the castle town. As a result, it is a popular place where people walk around while enjoying the ancient scenery of Japan.

Palace in the inner citadel

You can see the reproductions of the palace, white walls, gates and a tower in the area where the new castle once stood. The palace in the inner citadel is surrounded by pine trees, maintained like the art of bonsai. It contains magnificent Japanese-style rooms and a Japanese-style garden. You can enter free of charge.

Enjoy the view from the top at the remains of the old castle!

After going through the new castle remains and going into the mountain, you will see the old castle remains. In fact, it was the first castle of Tatsuno-jo.
