The Showa Memorial Park located in the north west of Tachikawa Station is a famous spot for sakura (cherry blossoms) in spring, colored leaves in autumn and illuminations in winter. The park has a Japanese garden, a swimming pool, a barbecue garden and you can even rent bicycles and enjoy some cycling.

Lalaport Tachikawa Tachihi just opened in December 2015. It is located right in front of Tama Toshi Monorail's Tachihi Station, South exit, and is the largest shopping mall in west Tokyo with approximately 250 stores. There is a food court inside from where you can see Mt. Fuji on a clear day adding to the joy of your shopping experience.

The Swedish giant furniture store Ikea is located at a 12-minute walk from Tachikawa Station's North exit and is crowded with families especially on weekends. There is a wide selection of products other than furniture like kitchen utensils and small Japanese items, so it's perfect for souvenir shopping as well. You can also enjoy reasonably priced food in the restaurant inside.
