This shop is at a 2-minute walk from Yabacho subway station, Suzume Odori Sohonten is a long standing Japanese sweets shop established in 1856. It has been loved by locals for more than 150 years since its opening. One of the most popular sweets here is “Uiro”, Nagoya specialty made with rice flour, sugar and water. Their Uiro is steamed in a bamboo steamer one by one, the traditional way that has not been changed since its opening. Many people buy them for souvenirs. There is also a café space in the store where they serve some sweets like anmitsu and zenzai, or some snacks such as some soup with mochi, zoni, and ochazuke.
