Skypark Mt. Kanpu Panorama Observation Deck

Oga Peninsula sticks out into the Sea of Japan on the west side of Akita. Skypark Mt. Kanpu Panorama Observation Deck is located on top of the grass-covered mountain Mt. Kanpu on this Oga Peninsula. From this observation deck, there is nothing that blocks your view in any given direction. The observation deck rotates a full round in 13 minutes and you can view the Sea of Japan and the surrounding scenery all at once while rotating 360 degrees. There is also a restaurant where you can dine while looking at this marvelous view.

Great Scenery from the Observation Deck

The altitude of Mt. Kanpu is 355 meters. The observation deck on the top of this mountain is a four-story building and its top floor is a rotating observation room. This is an amazing view and on a clear day, you can see the horizon on the ocean, mountains and even villages and lakes in the distance all at once. Sometimes you will spot paragliders flying elegantly.

Oga-shio soft cream is a dessert of Oga Peninsula that you can only get here at this observatory. This vanilla ice cream contains salt taken from Oga Peninsula and a seaweed called hondawara and is very popular in recent years.
