Senga Waterfall is 30 meters high and flows down the smooth rock surface. It is one of Japan’s Top 100 Waterfalls. The name “Senga” came from the name of a female hermit of Chinese myth who ascended to the moon. It is a great name to match this beautiful waterfall. The huge quantity of dropping water has a tremendous power.

Kakuenbo is a rocky mountain 180 m in height. It is a symbol of Shosenkyo that has an overwhelming impact. Especially the view of Kakuenbo in autumn is fantastic with crimson leaves surrounding it.

Nagatoro Bridge is an arched bridge built at the gateway of Shosenkyo in 1925. The view of the bridge is the best around the season of fresh green in early summer and autumn leaves. Be aware of cars since there is no sidewalk on the bridge.

Two huge rocks lean against each other and form a natural rock gate. The exquisite balance makes this rock tunnel. You can see a slight gap between two rocks which might give you a thrill that it might fall down any minute now.

Shosenkyo is a great viewing spot of autumn leaves as well as the beautiful gorge. The open space called Shosenkyo-enchi is a great spot to fully enjoy the red leaves of various trees around it.

Shosenkyo is also known as a crystal mine. There used to be many crystal mines around Kinpusan, the mountain in Shosenkyo. The crystal museum in Shosenkyo, “Crystal Sound” offers various exhibitions and souvenir goods as well.
