The geological survey estimates the forest of beech has existed since approximately 8,000 years ago in Shirakami Sanchi. Various plants live together in one of the biggest primeval forests of beech in the world which is 1,000 to 1,200 meters above sea level.

Anmon no Taki, which literally means waterfall from a dark gate, is one of the highlights. This waterfall contains three levels including a 42-meter drop on the first level. The trekking course is 3 kilometers one way and it takes two and half hours for a round trip. Although the road to the starting point is paved, you will go up many stairs and walk on the river side, we recommend you wear comfortable shoes.

Ao-ike is one of the lakes of Juniko, twelve lakes, located in the west of Aomori side. It looks like blue ink was poured into the lake. The reason for the color is still unknown. The clean and mysterious Ao-ike is a very popular spot. The season from spring to summer is especially beautiful.
