Takada Castle Hyakumannin Kan'oukai (million people sakura viewing) is held every year from mid to late April. There are not only around 300 food stands in the park but many events are held here. Special attention goes to the mikoshi (decorative float) being carried between the sakura in full blossom. The collaboration of sakura and mikoshi is a sight that is hardly found elsewhere. The heroic and powerful mikoshi is a must see.

Boat rides are available in the moat that surrounds the castle. Not only can you enjoy the sakura trees from up close but you can also see the reflection of the night sakura on the river surface. It is a different kind of fun than on land, recommended for couples and families.
