A municipal road of approximately 1.3 kilometers in length is lined with 1,000 cherry trees, which form a magnificent tunnel when in full bloom. Passing through this long-stretching road is quite a surreal experience as a surrounding mass of cherry blossoms makes it hard for you to see where you are going. If you visit at the time when the petals start falling, they create a swirl around you.

In the neighboring “Miyagi Senbonzakura-no-Mori,” there are about 500 cherry trees of 37 kinds. Planted right next to them are 150,000 moss phlox in vivid pink. (*Moss phlox is called “shiba-zakura” in Japan, literally translating to “cherry blossoms on lawn.”) This is the only location where you can enjoy the beautiful harmony of cherry blossom’s pale pink and moss phlox’s darker pink.
