Nagoya TV Tower on the north side of Sakae was completed in 1954. It is 180 m in height and has the observation decks called Sky Deck at the height of 90 m and Sky Balcony at 100 m high, where you can see, of course, the whole city of Nagoya and even Mt. Ontake.

Oasis 21 is a commercial complex that has a characteristic oval roof. It has various shops from apparel products to restaurants and the symbolic glass roof called "Spaceship-Aqua" in which water flows, and you can have a stroll along the flowing water as it shimmers in the sunlight. Also, the light-up at night whose colors are changed in harmony with the seasons is lovely.

Hisaya Odori (avenue) runs through the town north-south. It's known to people as the 100 m wide road. On both sides of the avenue, department stores, office buildings, and restaurants stand side by side. The median is the park called Hisaya-Odori Park, and various events are held here on weekends.

There are three department stores in Sakae area: Nagoya Mitsukoshi Sakae branch, Matsuzakaya Nagoya branch, and Maruei. They are called "3M" because of their names’ initials and attract widespread popularity. Mitsukoshi has excellent taste, Matsuzakaya has the best collection of food and food-related products on the basement floor, and Maruei is a locally based store founded in 1615. Each of them has its characteristic.

There are three underground shopping arcades in Sakae area: Sakae Chika spreads around Crystal Square, Mori-no-Chikagai (forest of the underground mall) near the city subway exit, and Central Park in a vast area of 5,000㎡. They are connected with each other, and you can thoroughly enjoy shopping even on a rainy day.

Sunshine Sakae is a hot spot with the landmark of a 52 m high Ferris wheel and has many other amusement facilities such as a theater for local idol groups who are mainly active in the Sakae area, cafes themed by subculture, and apparel shops with the latest Japanese fashion.

One of Nagoya's typical local food is Miso-katsu (pork cutlet with thick miso sauce). Yabaton is the most famous Miso-katsu restaurant which originally started in Yabacho, located in the south of Sakae, and they have franchises worldwide, too. It is exquisite to fill your mouth with crispy cutlet and thick miso sauce together.
