In Rikugien, you can enjoy the beauty of Japan's four seasons such as the fantastic shidare-zakura, weeping cherry blossoms, in spring, azalea in early summer and red leaves in fall. It’s a Japanese garden that covers an area of about 89,256 square meters. In its main spot, ”Tsukiyama-Sensui" style stroll garden is where the Japanese style cafe “Fukiage Chaya” is located. You can enjoy green tea and sweets as well as amazake, a sweet rice wine, while enjoying the beautiful view of the garden, it is the best place to drop in to take a break from walking.

Autumn Illuminations

The garden is lit up every fall when the leaves turn red. During the illumination, Fukiage Chaya is open after 17:00, their usual closing time. You can cherish their hospitality as they try to keep you warm with green tea and amazaka on cold, chilly nights.
