(Source : )
The falls are located in Oguni, at the northern tip of Kumamoto prefecture. It is a pretty wide waterfall with 20 meters width and 10 meters height, and has a delicate beauty about it as if it were a fine white curtain. Its beauty became famous when the waterfall was recently featured as the location of a TV commercial and became a famous tourist destination. It is known as a waterfall that can be seen from the back by going behind it. There is a spring nearby so the water of Oguni has a wonderful clear quality. The spot is also a popular hidden treasure for the delicious soba (buckwheat noodles) kneaded with this water.

"Water Curtain" Falling Delicately

Despite its smaller scale, the delicate beauty of Nabegataki Falls is something you do not get to see elsewhere. The sight of its stream falling down is almost like a white curtain being blown in the wind. Surrounded by green vegetation, the clear waterfall shimmering in the rays shining through the trees is so mysterious it could be out of a myth.

Soba Street

Near the falls, there is a Soba Street, where you will find many soba restaurants. The soba made in this area with the spring water of Mt. Aso and severe temperature changes is exquisite. Please try this specialty soba along with some of the dishes incorporating seasonal ingredients during your travel.
