Mori Teien

Mori Teien is a Japanese garden in Roppongi Hills. The garden is open until 11:00 pm and beautifully lit up at night. In the Mori pond, there are Japanese killifish, descendants of the killifish that were born aboard the Space Shuttle Columbia making them the first vertebrates born in outer space. The experiment was conducted by Mr. Chiaki Mukai, a Japanese astronaut, during a mission on the Space Shuttle Columbia. A waterfall, creeks, cherry trees and ginkgo trees surround this pond in this large estate. You will see seasonal changes of nature in this circuit-style Japanese garden.

Famous for Cherry Blossoms

Roppongi Hills is famous for its cherry blossoms in the spring. There are somei-yoshino cherry trees and weeping cherry trees in Mori Teien. Next to this garden is a street that is lined with 75 cherry trees called Roppongi Sakura-zaka that attracts many visitors. The blooming trees are lit up at night in late March. This is a wonderful spot to bring a date to see the fantastic blossoms at night.
