Maizuru Sizen Bunka-en is an extensive park where you can enjoy flowers of every season. It has Tsubaki-en, one of the biggest collection of camellias with 30,000 of 1,500 species, and Ajisai-en with 100,000 hydrangeas of 100 species. In the season of camellia and hydrangeas, many people visit the park to enjoy the flowers. The park has a different landscape of trees and flowers every season including fresh green in spring and red leaves in fall. This park is loved by many people as a place to observe and interact with nature.

1,500 species, 30,000 camellias at Tsubaki-en

Tsubaki-en is a park that has one of the largest number of camellias in Japan. They have 30,000 camellias belonging to 1,500 species and they hold a Tsubaki Festival from March to April when the camellias bloom. They showcase many camellias by using potted plants, cut flowers and photography panels. You can also visit “Camellia house” that has rare original species and western camellias.

100 species, 100,000 hydrangeas at Ajisai-en

Ajisai-en has a surprising 100,000 hydrangeas. This is the famous spot for hydrangeas in Kyoto and the park is full of visitors in the blooming season from June to July every year. The vivid “Sea of hydrangeas” fill out an area of 2 hectares. They hold an Ajisai exhibition where you can purchase rare hydrangeas.

Beautiful in fall

Red leaves can be enjoyed from November to the beginning of December. There is a 1 km promenade where you can enjoy wilt, maple and metasequoia as well as Koyo Exhibition where over 100 plants including Japanese maple and breeds for gardening are exhibited.
