All areas of Kushihiki Hachimangu have been designated as an Important Cultural Property by the Japanese Government, and you can feel the weight of its history here. The atmosphere of the area surrounded by cedar over 100 years old is exceptional. You may feel the solemnity by standing there.

Yabusame, Japanese archery on a running horse, Japanese archery contest, sumo tournament for boys, literary show, theatrical performance and services for the shrine are held. Many people visit the shrine to be purified or to pray.

In Kokuho-kan located on the right side of the Kushihiki Hachimangu, two national treasure armors “Shiroito Odoshitsumadori Yoroi” and “Akaito Odoshi Yoroikabuto,” famous as an armor of Kikuichimonji (Chinese letter for chrysanthemum), are exhibited. You can also wear the actual armor here so you can enjoy the feeling of being a Sengoku warrior.

In Kushihiki Hachimangu, lucky charms in the shape of “Hyotan”, or gourds, are sold. Hyotan sucks in the bad and pours out goodness and is known as a lucky symbol for preventing illness. When you wish for something, exhale into Hyotan three times and put the cap back on quickly. It is important to imagine that you are exhaling everything bad such as misfortunes and illnesses.
