Walking on okusando (an approach to Okunomiya) stretched next to the main building, the Okunomiya、 which used to be the main building, will appear. It's believed that the military commander Ieyasu Tokugawa built this thanking for the victory on war which led him to conquer the whole country. Although the building structure is simple, its appearance surrounded by trees has a solemn atmosphere. For this reason, it's said that Okunomiya is one of the most sacred places in this shrine.

In ancient Japan, it was believed that earthquakes were caused by a big catfish underground. The Kanameishi, the spirit rock has been said that it suppresses the catfish and protects the area from earthquakes. Although you can only see 2 inches of the stone on the ground, there is a legend that nobody has been able to dig this out ever. Also it's believed that this stone has a power to control your wavering mind.

Located at the back of the shrine area, Mitarashinoike is a beautiful clear pond of which you can see the bottom where spring water spurts. There is a legend that the water level will come always be chest high be it adults or children when they get into the water. At a café next to the pond, they sell soba (buckwheat noodles) and coffee made with the water from the pond.
