Karatsu Castle is a famous place for cherry blossom flowers in Saga. You can see beautiful cherry blossom flowers surrounding the castle from the end of March to the beginning of April each year. Karatsu Castle is a great place where you can enjoy cherry blossom pink flowers beside the blue sea.
Big field of Wisteria flowers
The approx. 500-square-meter large field of Wisteria trees blooms from the end of April to the beginning of May. In fact, some trees are more than 100 years old and some pendulous branches measure more than 1 m! In addition to light purple wisteria, there are white wisteria as well.
Niji no matsubara
Niji no matsubara is a forest situated in the east side of Karatsu Castle. This forest was maintained by the lord occupying Karatsu Castle in the beginning of 17th century in order to protect the castle from sand and wind. More or less 1 million black pine trees fill the forest. It is thus recognized as one of the three best scenic pine forests as well as one of the 100 beautiful Japanese beaches.
