Despite being located inside a tourist attraction, Restaurant Honmaru Chaya has reasonable prices and a good reputation for its taste. Most items on the menu are quite reasonably priced at under 1,000 yen, yet still the food tastes exquisite! The restaurant is especially dedicated towards the ingredients that form the basis of Japanese dishes such as using low-pesticide rice from the local Odawara area and a 100% natural stock made from kelp and bonito flakes.

Popular meal Odawara busho chazuke-don (1,000 yen) is an ochazuke (soup-style rice dish), in which a flavorful bonito-flakes stock is poured generously onto onigiri (rice balls) made with chameshi, a rice that has been cooked in tea. The onigiri is garnished with scallion, shiso (perilla leaf) and an umeboshi (pickled plum) of sugita plum known as the miracle umeboshi, giving a fresh aftertaste and is also recommendable for female customers!

Oebi tendon (jumbo shrimp tempura on rice) (1,500 yen) is also very popular and it has shrimp tempura so big they barely fit onto the dish! This is a highly recommended dish that you won't be able to rest your chopsticks while devouring the crunchy shrimp wrapped in its crispy crust. The menu is limited to weekdays, so if you stop by during the week make sure to give it a try.
