The avenue of poplar and ginkgo trees is a spot where almost all tourists that come to this campus are sure to visit. It has a romantic feel like a scene in a movie, especially in October and November, when the leaves change color making it a perfect photo spot.

Clark Statue
This bust set up as if to protect the campus is that of Professor Clark. He came from the US to Japan in the late 18th century by request from Japanese officials and was the director of Sapporo Agricultural College, the precedent of Hokkaido University. He is a widely loved person as "the father of Hokkaido's development."

University Botanical Garden
On the south side of the Sapporo campus, there is a botanical garden open to the public, where visitors get to see many kinds of trees and plants that have been gathered for research purposes. Rows of lilac trees, rose gardens, and even alpine plants that are typical to Hokkaido are cultivated here (Open from spring to autumn).

Most Popular Cafeteria Dish: Gyutoro-Don
The most popular dish in the central cafeteria on campus is the gyutoro-don (raw beef rice bowl). The beef is put on top of the rice and topped with negi (leek). It is then eaten with wasabi soy sauce. This is one of Hokkaido University's specialties that has many fans that become hooked to the fluffy texture of the meat.
