Haruna Shrine

This shrine is in the midst of Mt. Haruna in Gunma prefecture. It is said to have been built between 585 and 587. Since old days it is believed to have good effects on fortune and business, and is also known as a shrine to pray for rainfall. The main hall and many other of its buildings are registered important cultural heritages, and the "Yatate-sugi" (cedar tree), which holds a connection to the warrior of the Sengoku period, Shingen Takeda, is registered as a natural monument. The place is also characterized for having many strangely shaped rocks and rare landscapes. It is also a famous power-spot and is visited by men and women of all age groups.

Seven Deities of Fortune

In various spots along the entrance road, there are the Shichifukujin, seven gods of fortune. Bishamonten welcomes you at the entrance, followed by god of longevity Jurojin, Hotei, Fukurokuju, Ebisu, Benzaiten and Daikokuten. Make sure to find all of them, as they bring good luck.
