This shrine has a long history and was built in the year 757. Praying at this shrine is believed to improve one's efficiency at work. It is a shrine with a lot of festivities and according to its reputation there are as many as 800 celebrations in a year, including small and big events. Visitors can take part in the larger festivals that are highly regarded for portraying the seasonal beauty; for example, the Setsubun festival in February when beans and snacks are thrown and the Kosui festival in July when fireworks go up on the Lake Ashi right in front of the shrine.

Gate of Peace

The Gate of Peace (Heiwa no Tori) can be found when walking in the opposite direction of the shrine, towards Lake Ashi. The lake seen together with the tori is a recommended photo spot! The stone stairs on the way to the tori of peace have also become a healing spot, for the magical atmosphere that is created by the surrounding trees.

Anzan-sugi

A big Japanese cedar tree at Hakone Shrine called Anzan-sugi (cedar of safe birth) is prayed to as it is believed that because of its big, strong appearance, praying to this tree will help mothers deliver a healthy baby. This is a very rare tree, so you should offer a prayer too!
