National Treasures

Although the exhibits change from time to time, some precious national treasures are always on display. In the past, special exhibitions such as a look back at the history of Todai-ji or strictly focusing on one national treasure have been held. There are five rooms in the museum and each of them has displays based on varying themes.

A Full Scale Model of a Buddha Hand

There is a statue of a hand as big as about 1.5 m at the entrance of the museum. It is a full scale model of the hand of the Buddha statue in Todai-ji Kondo. You can feel how big it is if you stand right next to it. It is also a good photo spot.
