(Source : )
Taketomi island is 10 min away from Ishigaki island by high-speed boat and the island is about 9 km in circumference. There are roads of coral white sand and houses with red-brick roofs in villages of the island. This area was designated as a Preservation District in Japan. We recommend to see the traditional Okinawan environment on a buffalo carriage. Besides, this is an attractive spot with traditional, historical and natural things such as transparent beauty of a cobalt blue beach, amazing sunset-view spots, and local gourmet.

Villages with traditional sceneries of Okinawa

Roads of white sand, red-brick roofs, and  the guardian of Okinawa, Shiisa. These all remain in their original form. You can have a panoramic view of the villages from the top of Nagomi-no-tou, a 4.5 m tower built on a small rocky hill in the center of the island.

Buffalo carriage recommended for strolling the island

For seeing the island, it is popular to take a course to go round villages slowly on a famous buffalo carriage. You can sightsee traditional and beautiful views in a relaxed mood with the shamisen sound in the background. If you want to stroll around the neighboring area of the island, it's better to rent a cycle.

Scenic beauty of the beautiful, cobalt blue beach
