Irori

(Source : ひだ白川郷)
Registered as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, nearly 100 traditional Japanese buildings called Gassho Zukuri line the streets in Shirakawago in Gifu Prefecture. Most of the buildings are used for restaurants or gift shops. The restaurant Irori serves traditional dishes in the Hida region, and you can enjoy them sitting around an irori, a fire pit in a floor, in a Gassho Zukuri house. The restaurant also has a gift shop for tourists to purchase regional specialties. Across the street, there is a hot spring called Shirakawago no Yu that is the only natural hot spring in Shirakawago. You can relax and unwind in the hot spring while you enjoy the beautiful nature that displays different scenery in each season.
