“Rausu no Umiaji” is a restaurant run by fishermen with a wide variety of specialties from the famous fishing port of Rausu including various kinds of seafood as well as dishes including Hokkaido venison. The restaurant is connected to a “michi-no-eki” which acts as a large parking and rest area. The most famous dish at this restaurant is the “kuro hamo-don” (1,100 yen) that features kuroi hamo (black pike conger) which can only be found around Rausu and is cooked with a salty-sweet soy sauce and topped over rice. The restaurant has many other kinds of items on the menu including “uni-don” rice-bowl which is topped with Ezo bafun uni (short-spined sea urchin) (2,800 yen), shikaniku (venison) curry (950 yen), ramen, teishoku (set meals), and lunch sets.

From Kushiro Station on the JR Nemuro Main Line, take an Akan Bus headed for Rausu for about 3 hours and 30 minutes and get off at the Rausu Honcho stop (Akan Bus Rausu Office) from which it is a 5 minute’s walk.
