Oumiya Honten

(Source : 食べログ)
Founded in 1949, Ouemiya Honten is one of the famous restaurants serving Osaka's specialty, kushikatsu, deep-fried skewered meat and vegetable. Usually kushikatsu is breaded with panko crumbs, but this place doesn't use it. Instead, they use their original batter mixture. Deep-fried in beef tallow, the batter is crisp outside and soft inside. If you have ever had usual kushikatsu before, you will know the difference. The deep-fried batter is thick and it will satisfy you. It is a unique kushikatsu restaurant that is very popular among locals.

As it is one of Osaka's specialties, there are so many kushikatsu restaurants in Osaka, but the soft batter distinguishes this restaurant from others. The aerated batter makes it soft and it's almost like deep-fried bread or fritter. The chewy and soft batter is very filling. It's not soggy and greasy at all, so you won't feel heavy.
