Okurayama Viewing Point

In 1972, when the winter Olympics were held in Sapporo, Okurayama Jump Stadium was the site of the 90 m ski jump. Nowadays, the facilities are still used for winter sports and when there aren’t scheduled competitions or practices, the area is open to the public. Okurayama which is well known as a popular tourist spot lies at an elevation of 307 m offering clear views of the ski jump platform and Sapporo City from the observation deck. For those looking for scenic views, this is an extremely popular spot not to miss.

After riding the two person lift to the viewing deck at the top of the mountain, you can get sweeping views of famous landmarks in Sapporo City like Odori Park, the Sapporo Dome, and Hokkaido University. Just below is the starting line for the ski jump competitions, so you can feel just like the athletes do before plummeting down the slope.

From Sapporo municipal subway Maruyama-koen Station, take a JR Hokkaido Bus headed towards Miya-no-Mori Shantse for 7 minutes and get off at Okurayama Kyogijo Iriguchi (Entrance of the Okurayama Jump Stadium) bus stop from which it is a 10-minute walk.
Opening Hours / Holidays
Okurayama Viewing Lounge Lift operating hours: Summer (April 29-Nov 3) 8:30-18:00, Winter (Nov 4-April 28) 9:00-17:00 Lift is closed during ski jump competitions and scheduled practice sessions as well as in early April when the lift undergoes maintenance. Annexed facilities have slightly differing holidays and hours so please check the official website for further details.
