The Okayama Prefectural Museum of Art exhibits artworks related to Okayama. In this contemporary museum, special exhibitions and workshops take place in order to introduce various artistic activities inside and outside of the prefecture. Because it is situated at the center of the city of Okayama where Korakuen and Okayama castle are located, you can get here easily. In addition to black-and-white painting of Sesshu from about 600 years ago and works of Kuniyoshi Yasuo who is an important artist in the United States, there are works of various artists from many different periods. The exhibit is changed every month introducing the varied work.

This museum collects and conserves various artworks. Its aim is to "collect all the artistic documents related to the prefecture of Okayama."
