Ocean Expo Park

(Source : )
The Ocean Expo Park was built on the site of Okinawa International Ocean Exposition that was held in 1975. The state-operated park has a number of exciting facilities, one of which is the Churaumi Aquarium that is one of the largest aquariums in the world. In the History and Culture Area of the park, a Traditional Okinawa Village is featured that recreates the traditional life of the Ryukyu (original name for Okinawa) islands. It also has a large botanical garden called Tropical Dream Center which is located in the Flower and Greenery Area. There are many souvenir shops and restaurants in the park, so you will enjoy spending a whole day there. The park is one of the most popular destinations in Okinawa and draws many visitors every day.

Experience the Okinawan Ocean

There are many facilities in the park where you can fully enjoy the ocean surrounding Okinawa. It has one of the largest aquariums in the world, Churaumi Aquarium, as well as free dolphin shows. The shows are held four times a day at 11:00, 13:00, 14:30 and 16:00.

Tropical Dream Center

Tropical as well as subtropical flowers and fruit plants bloom and grow in the Tropical Dream Center. Over 2,000 orchids are displayed regularly. The 36-meter-high observation deck that looks like the Tower of Babel will make you forget that you are in Japan.

Traditional Okinawa Village

A village in the era of the Ryukyu Kingdom is recreated. You will find houses with distinctive red clay roofs as well as a sacred place to pray to God. Visitors enjoy a performance of the traditional Okinawan instrument called sanshi and traditional dance that is free of charge every day.

Emerald Beach

The beach in the park has beautiful emerald green water as the name suggests. This man-made beach is Y-shaped and surrounded by water. It is selected as one of the best 88 swimming beaches and is among 100 excellent swimming beaches for its pure white sand and the superb quality of water.
