Nyudozaki

On the west side of Akita prefecture, there is a peninsula called Oga Hanto. On the north of the peninsula, there is a cape called Nyudozaki. On approx. 30 m high land, a light house with black and white stripes, called "Nyudozaki todai", stand on the edge of the cape. Because the view is so beautiful, it is a very popular touristic site in the area. The light house is chosen as one of "50 selected light houses". It is also known for its beautiful sunset, which is also chosen as one of "Japan's 100 selected sunset." On top of that, there are many restaurants in the area, where you can have fresh seafood, caught in the same area.

Because the cape is surrounded by the large Sea of Japan, you can enjoy the magnificent view of blue sky and the sea. In fact, this place is known for its beautiful view from long time ago. Therefore, it is a famous touristic spot in the area.

"Monuments" at latitude of forty degrees north

Since the cape is situated at latitude of forty degrees north, there is a monument on the same forty degrees line, such as sundial or stone monument. Those monument creates special atmosphere, that match well the vastness of the place.

"Nyudozaki todai" with black and white stripes

"Nyudozaki todai" is a light house, known for its black and white stripes. It has become a landmark of Nyudozaki. You can climb up the light house to overlook Nyudozaki and the area around it. You can also see other islands far in the sea.
