Nakano Broadway is a shopping complex which opened in 1966. The shopping area occupies five floors from the basement to the fourth floor. There are many shops of various kinds such as a supermarket in the basement, apparel stores and household goods shops. The reason why it is gathering so much attention is the existence of subculture shops all over this place. There are many shops that deal with capsule-toy vending machines, figurines and retro toys. People call this place "A mecca of Japanese pop culture.”

A Long Shopping Arcade from the Station

Nakano Sun Mall shopping arcade starts at the north gate of JR Nakano Station and Nakano Broadway is at the end of it. The shopping area around this arcade is the busiest district in Nakano. There are various kinds of shops such as restaurants, household good's shops, apparel shops, and electronics shops, all of which are bustling with with shoppers till late at night.
