In 1987, Meriken Park was built to commemorate the 120th anniversary of the opening of Kobe Port. This park is home to many novel buildings, such as Kobe Port Tower, Kobe Maritime Museum, and Hotel Okura Kobe. Many of Kobe’s famous landmarks can be seen in this park. The illuminations of the buildings are also spectacular. The night view from a cruise ship that sails off from Meriken Park is very romantic.
