Kohamajima is a place where a popular Japanese TV drama called "Churasan" was filmed. As a result, the straight roads surrounded by large sugarcane fields, such as Sugar road, are very famous. Since roads go up and down, I recommend you to visit this place by renting car, motorcycle or bicycle.
Great observatory from which you can overlook Yaeyama islands
On Kohamajima, there is only one mountain, called Ufudaki. Measuring 99 m high above water, on the top of the mountain, there is Ufudaki observatory from where you can observe Yaeyama islands in a big panoramic view. Surrounded by blue sea, you can capture the beautiful islands.
Beautiful preserved beach
On Kohamajima, there are many beautiful preserved beaches that are typical of isolated islands. Toumaru Beach is a long and narrow beach where you can enjoy many activities such as bathing and snorkeling. I also recommend you to participate in a tour on the crescent-shaped shore that appears at low tide.
Kubazaki shore
This shore resembles a southern paradise. Situated on the extended area on the east side of the island, it is a famous place where massive manta fish circle around. Near the shore, there is a village where you can see how people live on an isolated island. You can see different scenery here, compared to other touristic sites.

Haimurubushi is a very famous resort hotel in Kohamajima. It is a great place to enjoy various water sports, including water scooter, water ski, snorkeling, diving tour, etc.
