One of the Top Three Dinosaur Museums in the World: Fukui Prefectural Dinosaur Museum
Fukui Prefectural Dinosaur Museum is the largest theme park of dinosaurs in Japan and also regarded as one of the top three dinosaur museums in the world. In the extensive facility, over 40 full-scale skeletons are exhibited along with more than 1000 specimens and a huge diorama so faithful that it even has the plants of the time recreated.

Make a Historic Discovery!? Fossil Digging Experience
The field station of the Fukui Prefectural Dinosaur Museum is about 30 minutes away by the special bus from the main facility of the museum. It is a real excavation site where you can experience fossil digging by hitting on rocks. Doki Doki Kyoryu Hakkutsu Land (dinosaur excavation land) in Katsuyama Dinosaur Forest Park offers a more casual fossil digging experience using the rocks brought from the excavation site. Both are popular programs and it is recommended to make a reservation beforehand.
