Jajamenya Koujan
A tiny, cozy restaurant Koujan serves Jajamen, the local specialty of Morioka, Iwate Prefecture. Jajamen is a kind of noodle which has evolved here in Morioka. The noodle similar to Udon is warmed up and topped with meat-miso sauce, cucumber and so on. The noodle and toppings should be mixed well before eating. After eating all the noodles, everyone enjoys the remaining meat-miso in the bowl with some eggs and hot water in which the noodles were boiled. It is called “chi-tan”, egg soup. The meat-miso tastes uniquely addictive and a little spicier than that of zhajiangmian. It is a great place to casually drop in after a drink.
