Hottai Falls

Originating from one of Japan's top 100 famous mountains Mt. Chokai, this is a rare waterfall falling in a form facing the mountain top. It consists of "first fall," "second fall" and "third fall" and is in total about 100 meters long and 57 meters deep. It is believed that the name comes from white clothes called Hottai, worn by monks in training, because of its similar shape with the wide bottom. The surrounding of the waterfall is also a beautiful view from the season of young vegetation to the changing leaves in autumn.
