Kaiseki Himorogi is a Japanese restaurant in the 140-year-old Japanese-style house. Their significant dish "Asukanabe" (Asukanabe kaiseki 5,000 yen) is a milk hot pot which was introduced by a monk of Asuka 1,300 years ago. Besides Asukanabe, you can experience cuisine made with local foods such as "Nokanzo", lily family wild grass. "Man-yo oyaki", bun like a soft bread made with a mixture of wheat flour and buckwheat flour is also famous. They have 6 kinds of oyaki such as "Mentai jaga", mixture of salt-peppered cod roe and potato, which you can also take out.

"Himorogi kaiseki", the lunch course with dainty and beautiful delicatessens in a lacquer case

"Himorogi kaiseki" (3,500 yen) is the large square lacquer lunch case filled with colorful delicatessen such as mini sushi and "Kamaboko", steamed paste of fish meat. This is a gorgeous lunch with shrimp tempura, pumpkin and lotus root, 3 kinds of sashimi and "Chawan-mushi", steamed egg custard with crab and bamboo shoot.

"Man-yo oyaki" (200 yen) is another signature dish which can be taken out. There are six varieties of stuffing "Miso leek", "Mixed vegetables”, "Nikujaga"(sweet and salty boiled meat and potato), "Komatsuna", "Mentai jaga" and "Tsubu an". The fermented dough made with buckwheat flour has a distinctive savory aroma. It is filled with enough stuffing to fill your stomach.
