Daruma Ken was opened in 1947, right after World War II, as a booth shop in Sapporo city, Hokkaido prefecture. The noodle that was created by the first owner got a good reputation in Sapporo, and it became a foundation of “Sapporo ramen”, which still has a firmly rooted popularity. Since the ramen was very good, it started getting orders not only from Hokkaido, but also from all over Japan. The most popular dish of Daruma Ken is Shoyu (soy source) ramen. The noodles which goes down well are in a clear soup, and there is “Datemaki”, baked egg with minced fish on top. The taste which has stayed constant has attracted customers for 70 years.
