Cape Sata

Cape Sata (Sata Misaki) is the southernmost point of mainland Japan. The 31st parallel north crosses Cape Sata as well as New Delhi in India and Cairo in Egypt. The average annual temperature is 19℃ or 66°F. The blue sky and the ocean create a tropical atmosphere. After a 20-minute walk on a jungle-like pathway, you will find an observatory deck where you can overlook Yakushima Island, Tanegashima Island and Mt. Kaimon. There is a phone booth shaped like a lighthouse and a post office where you can get a beautiful postmark stamp. You can also purchase a certificate of reaching Cape Sata as a memento of the trip.
