Aganogawa River Boat Ride
Situated in the north of Niigata, Aganogawa river is one of the biggest rivers in Japan, measuring approx. 210 km long. Aganogawa river runs from the area called Okuaga from which it goes through a valley surrounded by many trees. This beautiful view is chosen as one of the 100 Landscapes of Japan. Although you can observe the same view by walking on the banks of the river, we recommend that you observe it from the boat! There are two boats - Aganogawa Line Boat Ride and Okuaga Pleasure Cruise - that go down Aganogawa river. These are great rides to enjoy the beautiful valley in different seasons.

Line Boat Ride with beautiful seasonal views
Aganogawa Line Boat Ride is more or less a 40-min boat ride that starts from the station, Aganosato. You can enjoy the beautiful view of the valleys all year long. From spring to summer, the valleys are covered in green trees. In fall, leaves change their colors and turn red and yellow. In winter, the place will be covered in snow. We particularly recommend that you try the Snow-viewing Boat that only runs in winter. You can see the beautiful Aganogawa river covered in snow from inside the warm boat.

Visit the upper stream of Aganogawa river by Okuaga Pleasure Cruise
Okuaga Pleasure Cruise starts from the upper stream of Aganogawa river, compared to the Line Boat Ride. Therefore, you can enjoy the view at the upper stream of the river. It only runs on weekends and national holidays. Starting from the artificial lake, Tsunogami lake, famous for cherry blossom trees, the boat runs down the river for approx. 40 min, passing beautiful viewing spots of Okuaga. You can enjoy Aganogawa river, in addition to the great Tsunogami lake.

Visit the fish market and souvenir shops at Michinoeki, Aganosato
The Line Boat Ride starts from Michinoeki Aganosato, which is a shopping facility that contains one of the bigger fish markets near the Sea of Japan and shops selling local specialties and souvenir items of Niigata. Furthermore, there are restaurants inside, where you can taste dishes cooked using local products.
