Furusato Matsuri Tokyo, an event to enjoy local Japanese festivals and dishes

Furusato Matsuri Tokyo, is a popular annual event in Tokyo, will be held again this year. Having attracted more than 4 million people in total so far, the 12th annual Furusato Matsuri Tokyo will bring various Japanese local festivals and local foods to Tokyo Dome.

National Donburi (rice bowl) Competition

The “National Donburi Competition” is in its 11th year! The champion of this competition will be the 1st donburi champion of Reiwa era, and just like the previous year, visitors can try and choose the donburi they loved the most. Donburi that have been winners in the past will also be served.

Local festivals at “Omatsuri Hiroba”

Local festivals like Aomori Nebuta Festival, Niihama Taiko Festival, Akita Kanto Festival, and Okinawa Zento Eisa Festival will be performed at this event. More than 20 groups of performers will entertain the audience through dynamic performances daily. Don’t miss this chance and enjoy the beauty of Japanese local festivals here!

Nigiwai-ichi (local food market)

Nigiwai-ichi is a local food market that gathers more than 380 shops across Japan; from Hokkaido to Okinawa.
A special night event; where all the lights are turned off, will be held from 18:00 to 21:00 each day. During this event, visitors can watch stage performances while drinking local sake and beer, which over 100 selections to choose.
A dance event called “Minna de Odoranaito!” where visitors can experience Japanese traditional dances will be held on January 10 and January 16, 2020.

Mesmerizing lights of Japan at Winter Lights Garden!

Tokyo Dome City Winter Lights Garden is an annual winter event at Tokyo Dome City and is in its 15th year! The event is a must-see evening event and just like the previous year, this year Tokyo Dome City continues focusing on Japanese aesthetic design, creating the illumination using many patterns and motifs related to Japanese traditional crafts.

LaQua area

「SAKURA」

This illumination features a beautiful 6.5 meter high cherry blossom; an iconic symbol of Japan, which will bloom beautifully in harmony with the music played with Japanese instruments.

 

「Water Symphony(Christmas Ver.)」

The fountain light show will be shown in harmony with the popular Christmas music. Enjoy the romantic atmosphere created by the reflections of lights on the water (Christmas version is available until December 25 (Wed), 2019).

 

You should never miss the classy and sophisticated champagne gold illumination above.

Attractions area

「YAGURA」

Inspired by Japanese traditional festival, this area features a 6 meter high yagura (raised platform) decorated with red lanterns. When you beat the drum inside the tower, vivid lights and sound will play.

Crystal Avenue

「TANABATA」

Inspired by the magical Tanabata (star festival), you’ll see a 100 meter long lights spreading above your head like the Milky Way on the 1st floor of Crystal Avenue. Enjoy the reflections of shooting stars and lights coming from fireflies and lanterns on the water.

 

「ANDON」

You will find lanterns lining for about 120 meters on the 2nd floor, which each is covered using different patterns of Japanese paper, casting warm lights in a winter night.

Meets Port area

「Mt.FUJI」

This area presents a color-changing light-up featuring the iconic Mt. Fuji, the most popular mountain of Japan. Enjoy flexing for the gram with a backdrop of Mt. Fuji and Torii (shrine gates)!

Hi!EVERYVALLEY

「FUJIDANA」

In addition to the cherry blossom, this hypnotic purple lights illumination features wisteria; purple flowers that also represent Japan.
