Not to miss this summer! “Tokyo Art City by NAKED”: an experience-based, dynamic event with light and art

Enjoy a different view of “TOKYO” than usual.

The concept of “Tokyo Art City” is “A city is art”. This art event exhibits the city’s attractions in “Tokyo” through projection mapping of a large-scale Tokyo model by making full use of the latest technologies. A wide range of experience-based programs will be offered at each area. This event is recommended for those who have already fully enjoyed temples, nature, and traditional culture in Japan! You will complete Tokyo’s sightseeing after experiencing a different view of “Tokyo” than usual created by making full use of art, entertainment and the latest technologies!

Please add “Tokyo Art City” to your itinerary when sightseeing in Tokyo!

The venue of this event is close to several sightseeing places in Tokyo, including entertainment facilities such as Tokyo Dome City and LaQua, Akihabara, Ueno, Yanaka, the Imperial Palace, Koishikawa Korakuen Garden, and Rikugien Garden. How about adding this in your Tokyo sightseeing route? You can look around the exhibits within 30 minutes. In addition, this will be an indoor event, so the weather conditions and visiting time won’t affect you. Those who don’t have enough time or only have time during the day to fully enjoy sightseeing in Tokyo can have a digest version of Tokyo’s famous sightseeing places through this event too.

Experience eight famous places in Tokyo in one go!

At this event, you can have a gorgeous simulated experience of the eight famous areas of Tokyo including Shinjuku, Shibuya, Akihabara, Tokyo Station, Tokyo Tower, Tokyo Dome City, Tokyo National Museum, and Odaiba. ◆Shinjuku Area: immerse in a world like that of games Kabukicho is the nation’s top entertainment and red-light district in Shinjuku with groups of skyscrapers including Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building. You can experience two different features of Kabukicho together: a well-organized office area and a chaotic entertainment and red-light area. The reproduced red-light area resembles the world of games. Don’t miss a chance to see Pac-Man, a beloved game character, and Shinjuku’s tourism ambassador Godzilla here!
◆Shibuya Area A pedestrian scramble intersection in Shibuya is the most famous tourist site in Japan and is a symbol of the city. It is the nation’s largest intersection and about half a million people cross it per day. It is not only famous but also mysterious to see 3,000 people crossing it at the same time without bumping into each other. We created an art work featuring people and cars passing the intersection in the right manner. It offers a 360-degree view of the scramble intersection including its surrounding buildings and billboards and you will feel like the whole city has enfolded you. You can also view a floating intersection when looking up. The side and back alleys in Shibuya offers a digital painting experience by creating lines with light when you draw a line with your finger on the wall. Here, both parents and children can enjoy this interactive hands-on installation art. To add to this, if you insert money into a vending machine placed next to the scramble intersection and then press a button, something is going to happen. A can of soft drink will cost 200 yen and it is, of course, drinkable. You should try one!
◆Akihabara Area to get a feel of Otaku Akihabara is gaining worldwide attention as the center of Tokyo’s subculture. “Gacha-gacha” building representing this area is packed with Otaku (people with obsessive interests such as manga) featuring anime, figures, and illumination accessories. Insert a 500 yen into the building and then twist the handle, the building will be distorted and a capsule containing one of the four event original pin badges will come out. Please throw the empty capsule away into the trash box in front of the building. An interactive trick will be offered here too.
◆Tokyo Station Area where you can experience a reproduction of a legendary event Tokyo Station is the entrance of Tokyo. We reproduce the projection mapping that was held at the Tokyo Station in 2012. The event in 2012 was being much talked about and about as many as 300,000 visitors came to see it. This is a legendary event that attracted people’s attentions towards “3D projection mapping” in Japan.
◆Tokyo Tower Area for a romantic atmosphere A symbol of Tokyo, Tokyo Tower functions as a radio tower. It has been loved by people for a long time. When going up and entering the observation deck, you will enjoy a panoramic night view of the venue. A projection mapping demo called “City Light Fantasia” that is actually being held at the Tokyo Tower will be shown regularly on the windows of the observation deck. Experience a beautifully magical and romantic atmosphere!
◆Tokyo National Museum: a collaboration between traditional art and the latest technology Ueno area offers a historical and seasonal atmosphere in Tokyo. Tokyo National Museum is the nation’s oldest museum located in Ueno. We will reproduce the projection mapping demo from 2013, featuring art works registered as the National Treasures of Japan. Here, you can enjoy a collaboration between traditional art and the latest technologies in Japan.
Other than the above, at the Tokyo Dome City Area, you can see the model of Tokyo Dome City that is one of the most famous entertainment facilities in the Bunkyo ward of Tokyo. At the Odaiba Area, you can see the model of its symbol, Rainbow Bridge. *Note: the Odaiba Area is scheduled to be released on July 22. You’re gonna love it!

Consecutive movement: special effects creating an illusion of movement of the whole venue. Absolutely gorgeous!

Key elements of a city such as architecture, culture, history, and lifestyle, will be created by particles of light. These particles will float around the space starting from the Tokyo Station Area while changing shape and color. Eventually, these particles will gather and form the city of Tokyo. You can experience the continuously changing city “Tokyo” through this. *This will take place about every 15 minutes.
Furthermore, you can enjoy the small details of “Tokyo” displayed at the entire venue, including a graphic design of the whole city of Tokyo where you can see its population, traffic, electricity bill when touching one of the icons on the display, and a green-lighting Yamanote line model running according to the actual train schedule at the top of the venue, and Tokyo subway routes spreading across Tokyo’s underground behind the Shibuya model. Why don't you add “Tokyo Art City” to your itinerary when sightseeing in Tokyo this summer?
