Amid this lively urban landscape, there's a serene haven where you can admire a variety of plants or simply relax: the Shibuya Fureai Botanical Center.

Managed by the Shibuya Ward Office, this botanical garden has been enhanced and reopened on July 29, 2023.

Shibuya Fureai Botanical Center is conveniently located between Shibuya, Ebisu, and Daikanyama stations.

It's an 8-minute walk from Shibuya Station, and an 11-minute walk from both Ebisu and Daikanyama Stations, making it easily accessible from any of these points.

The garden is managed by the Shibuya Ward Office, and the entrance fee is a modest 100 yen. This affordable price grants you access to a diverse array of plants, including many rare species in Japan.

The garden is open from 10:00 to 21:00, offering a natural light experience during the day and a beautifully illuminated atmosphere at night.

Unique Botanical Garden

Shibuya Fureai Botanical Center is Japan's smallest botanical garden, yet it is packed with unique features. In addition to various types of trees, there are also fruit trees and other unusual plants. Upon entering, you'll find a seating area with a small projector surrounded by a myriad of plants.

The garden includes an area where plants are grown using hydroponic methods, which involve water but not soil. You can learn about different plant cultivation techniques here.

There's even a zone where plants play music, creating a charming tunnel-like experience.

Nighttime Light Up

As night falls, the garden transforms with beautiful lighting, offering a different ambiance. Since October 5, 2023, the garden's hours have been extended to 21:00.

The garden's first and second floors are popular photo spots for teenagers, providing many picturesque angles for photography.

From the second floor, you can enjoy a panoramic view of the garden and visit the library, where books are displayed on beautifully lit shelves for reading within the space.

Cafe Inside the Botanical Garden

To enhance your visit, the garden includes a cafe open from 11:00 to 21:00, with menus for lunch, cafe, and dinner times. The cafe uses carefully selected natural ingredients for a range of dishes, from snacks and desserts to coffee, tea and alcoholic beverages. The ordering system is convenient, utilizing QR codes at the tables for easy browsing and selection.

Try a ginger ale and chocolate cake to experience the cafe's quality ingredients. The menu offers a variety of options, making it an ideal spot for relaxing, reading, or working.
