teamlab has created several attractions so far throughout Japan. In this feature, we talk about the newest addition in Osaka called teamlab Botanical Garden. Located in Nagai Park, this installation is permanent so you don't have to worry about missing it. Stop by whenever you plan to visit Osaka. Spread over a large area, you can take your time to truly immerse in this digitised artwork.
To visit the teamlab Botanical Garden, take the train to Nagai Station and exit at Exit No. 3.
Along the way, you will find signs that will guide you in the right direction.
The park is a ten-minute walk from the station. Show your reservation QR barcode to enter. If you haven't made a reservation, you can buy tickets at the counter. Make reservations here.
The most interesting part are the dynamic, moving colored boxes called Sculptures of Dissipative Birds in the Wind. The giant sculptures in this artwork depict the continuous dissipation of energy into the environment by the birds that fly around them.
The changing colors look beautiful, and as you watch, you can get lost into it without getting bored.
There are plenty of photo opportunities close to this particular exhibit.
Each zone is connected to one another, and this is what makes it even more special as you can move from one to the other seamlessly. For example, if you are walking by the lake, you can see at least three attractions from other zones at a distance.
The next zone is called Resonating Microcosms in the Common Camellia Garden - Solidified/Liquified Light Color, Sunrise and Sunset, which features ovoids in the forest. The ovoids change color constantly and offer an otherworldly, magical experience.
These two ovoid zones have a very different feel.
Some areas feel warm while others cold. Each zone creates a range of emotions in the viewer.
This zone is called Life is Flickering Light Floating in the Dark - Cosmos. A field of cosmos lights up as the sun sets illuminating each flower gently. Don't forget to ask friends to capture your photos here!
Cosmos flowers bloom around October, and in other months, you can enjoy other seasonal flowers.
In the zone called Forest of Autonomous Resonating Life - Eucalyptus, you can touch these large spheres that change color when pushed.
This floating lantern zone (Floating Resonating Lamps on Oike Lake) on the water creates a romantic atmosphere with the lights floating above the water surface.
These round lanterns probably are a reminder of the many lantern festivals around the world.
These are just a few of the attractions at the teamLab Botanical Garden. Make sure to stop by on your next trip to Osaka.
