Cherry blossoms have started blooming in Tokyo. Since the pandemic is still going on, and it is not yet safe to gather in very large groups or crowded places, we thought of introducing a spot where you can enjoy the view of blossoms without too much chaos. Ideal for small groups of family or friends, you can savor some delicious food and drinks with a gorgeous view of sakura in full bloom at the terraced seating for restaurants in Roppongi Midtown, Tokyo.
Roppongi has always been a fashionable place, known for its night life and packed with many famous gourmet restaurants. Roppongi Midtown is a comprehensive facility that brings together food, shopping and entertainment under one roof. There are several restaurants here but the best views of the cherry blossoms is from the open-air seating area on the 2nd floor. Especially if the weather is good, this is the best place to enjoy a quiet hanami.
The open-air seating area does not belong to any one restaurant but is a shared space between many restaurants on the 2nd floor. There are plenty of options in terms of cuisine: Japanese, Western, Chinese or Southeast Asian. Choose one that suits your needs. One thing that all restaurants have in common is that the terrace seats of each restaurant offer spectacular views of the cherry blossoms.
Feel free to dress up to match the blossoms, order a glass of bubbly and gaze at the gentle cherry blossoms.
Every year during the cherry blossom season, restaurants also offer special drinks for a limited period. If you plan a visit with family and friends, you might as well have a drink together, which is much more cost effective.
The height of the terrace is similar to that of the overpass connecting Roppongi Midtown to the garden. You can also enjoy looking at people who are enjoying the scenery. Maybe stop by the overpass to take some more photos yourself!
Even though the cherry blossoms are planted along a road, there are very few cars passing through here. So you won't be distracted by any unnecessary noise or movement.
The photo below clearly shows how close you are to the blossoms. When the wind blows, you will see a blizzard of cherry blossom petals called "sakura fubuki" and it looks like gently-descending snowflakes.
Usually, there will also be food stalls and drink bars in the outdoor public areas. However, due to the pandemic, there may be none this year.
You can see how beautiful and elegant this spot is with the canopy of cherry blossom trees at eye level. There are also many other cherry blossom spots around Roppongi within walking distance from Midtown.
Even if you aren't in Japan now, hopefully you can enjoy this view in the coming years.
