A new and futuristic Shibuya Station opens for Tokyo Metro Ginza Line

Tokyo Metro Ginza Line service was partially suspended from December 28, 2019 to January 2, 2020 for the construction of the new platform of Tokyo Metro Ginza Line's new Shibuya Station.

The new entrance is next to Shibuya Hikarie, and is also connected to some of the most famous commercial facilities near Shibuya Station.

Tokyo Metro Ginza Line is the first subway line in Japan and in the Asia-Pacific region. If you're lucky you might be able to get on the original 1000-series when taking the Ginza Line.

The ticket gates are painted in orange; a trademark color of Ginza Line.

The new platform is much wider and cleaner than the old platform, which was not only narrow, but also packed with many passengers.

The main highlight of this new platform is the M-shaped roof, which gives futuristic vibes and a more open feel to the station.

The redevelopment plan of Shibuya Station area is scheduled to finish in 2027, and Shibuya area will become a new international business center of Tokyo. The redevelopment of Shibuya Station will allow more people to throng the station and easily access the commercial facilities around the station.
