One day's ticket is valid for use by one traveler, so you can split the ticket with someone else too. If you're a couple, you can use one ticket between two for four days. If two or more people are using the ticket, you need to travel together. You can also buy multiple tickets to extend your travel.
Costing only 11,850 yen for 5 days, this is a steal. It comes up to about 2,370 yen per day. You can use overnight trains too, this means you save on your hotel stay.
How to use the ticket
・You can buy a ticket at any JR Ticket Offices (Midori no Madoguchi) as well as Travel Service Centers in most JR East stations. ・Show the ticket to the station employee near the ticket gates. He/she will stamp it with the date you start using it. If two people are using one ticket, you will get two stamps for a day. ・You cannot put the ticket through the automatic ticket gate.If you miss your local train connection
Since the number of local trains in rural areas is sparse, there is a possibility you might miss the only connection for the day. In this case, you can request the station master to provide a supplementary ticket for a bullet or express train. You only pay for the transit charge and not the reserved seat/seat charge. You may have to take a taxi or bus to the closest bullet train station but it's an option to remember when the weather takes a bad turn.
